A Southern California native, John Matthew spent his early years as a child. At the miniscule age of 6, while pursuing a part-time career in 'wandering around looking at stuff', John got a job voicing the part of "Little Boy" for some educational media. Though he enjoyed the novelty of the work, he burnt his tongue on some hot chocolate at the recording studio, and didn't notice the large foreshadow that passed over the building during the session.
Years would pass before his interest in voice work was rekindled - years filled with skiing, hiking, drumming, and yet more wandering around looking at stuff. Encouraged by friends and passers-by who felt compelled to buy things when they heard his voice, he began formal training in voice acting while he was slowly earning a degree in Geography from UCLA. Though he did not pursue a career in the sciences, he will happily make up answers to any questions you may have about pretty much anything.
Now over 20 years into his voiceover career, John has been described variously as a "local personality", "80s novelty act" and "mostly harmless". A busy full-time voice talent (he only just now got around to watching Twin Peaks), he has voiced LITERALLY hundreds of projects in all media -- from radio to internet. Most days you'll find him "in the box" at his home studio, furiously recording auditions and jobs; on weekends he can sometimes be seen chatting with squirrels in the local park, or hiking the local mountains, searching for any signs of possible volcanic activity.
